Girls Lacrosse Playoff Roundup: Derryfield survives against Pelham

MANCHESTER – The Derryfield School girls lacrosse team came back from a six-goal deficit in the first half and held off Pelham for an 18-17 win Tuesday in the first round of the Division III playoffs.

The fifth-seeded Cougars (12-4) trailed 8-2 at the end of the first quarter, but cut the lead to one at halftime and outscored the No. 12 Pythons (6-9) 8-4 over the game’s final 18 minutes.

Reagan Ayers led Derryfield with seven goals and two assists and Maddy Paolino added six goals while Finley Llewellyn had three goals and three assists. Charlotte Belanger also had a goal and an assist and Chloe Larson scored. Noelanni Hunter finished with seven saves.

Pelham got 12 goals and an assist from Ella DeSimmone while Brianna Wood had two goals and two assists. Isabella Santolucito added three goals and one assist and Jessica Phillips added an assist.

No. 6 Coe-Brown 21, No. 11 Plymouth 3

The Bears shut out the Bobcats over the final three quarters and rolled to a win in the first round.

Avery Keefe scored 11 goals o go with three draw controls and three groundballs to lead Coe-Brown (11-4). Ellie Escabi added five goals, four assists and three draw controls and Morgan Readel had two goals, four assists and five groundballs.

Rose Bean chipped in with two goals and Addison Roy had a goal and an assist while Bella Poulin, Brooke Kozlowski, Molly Skahan, Natalie George, Maggie Cardillo and Alexis Thomas each had an assist.

Kozlowski, Ady Moynihan and Kenzie Silva also played well defensively and Hailey Smith made seven saves.

No. 7 Laconia 16, No. 10 Lebanon 5

The Sachems outscored the Raiders 9-0 in the second half to pick up a win in the first round.

Ava Currier had seven goals and eight draw controls for Laconia (11-4) while Natalie Allen had four goals and an assist.

Molly Catudal added three goals and Macie Fields scored twice while BrookLynne Ring made eight saves for the Sachems.

No. 8 Gilford 17, No. 9 Trinity 9

The Golden Eagles broke open a tie game in the second quarter to knock off the Pioneers.

Abby Watson led the way with seven goals, one assist, 10 draw controls and five caused turnovers while Zevy Donovan had six goals, one assist, two draw controls and four groundballs for Gilford (11-4).

Riley Coutts added two goals and an assist while Aubrey Vilet had a goal and two groundballs and Josie Arrighi had a goal and an assist. Madi Breton finished with 10 saves.

No. 4 John Stark 18, No. 13 Kearsarge 3

The Generals moved on to the quarterfinals with a big win over the Cougars.

Zoe Lawson led the way with nine goals, two assists and 12 draw controls while Claudia Dustin had three goals and five assists for John Stark (13-3).

Addie DeCew also had three goals and an assist while Kira Beard had two goals and an assist. Addy Brunini chipped in a goal while Aislyn Smith had two assists and Hannah Perkins had one helper.

No. 3 St. Thomas 21, No. 14 Milford 4

The Saints scored a dozen goals in the first quarter and cruised to a win over the Spartans in the first round.

Julia Bryan had five goals and an assist and Talula Gregg added four goals and two assists for St. Thomas (15-2). Ava Goodwin scored three goals and Lizzy Holden had two goals and two assists and Charlotte De Tolla also had two goals.

Annita Parmelee dished out four assists and Kate Kreycik had a goal and an assist while Addy Allen, Riley Thomas, Lucy Broom and Maiya Scanlon each had a goal. Cara Forest, Charlotte Kelly and Sophia Kelly added an assist apiece.

Jules Stowell and Izzy Taylor played well defensively and Reese Foss made three saves.

Division II Playoffs

No. 8 Merrimack Valley 15, No. 9 Hollis Brookline 7

The Pride got off to a fast start and held off the Cavaliers to advance to the quarterfinals.

Ella Frink had seven goals and three assists, including her 200th career point, while Lauren Bailey had three goals and three asissts for Merrimack Valley (9-6).

Abbey Thompson added three goals and an assist while Lilly Jones had a goal and three assists. Izzy Garvin had a goal and an assist and Quinn Frink had two helpers.

Josie Dougherty finished with seven saves to lead the defense.

Division I Playoffs

No. 8 Bedford 10, No. 9 Dover 7

Down one at halftime, the Bulldogs rallied in the second half to get a playoff win over the Green Wave.

Eloise Montagano had five goals to lead Bedford (9-8) while Carly Hodgdon-Rogers added three goals and Mary Lenti scored twice in the win. Paige Gibson also had an assist in the win.

Dover (6-10) got four goals from Khloe Healy while Kyra Small, Kaitlyn Bastille and Declyn Mangum added a goal apiece. Leighton Kelly finished with nine saves for the Green Wave.
