Goffstown picks up win over Milford in Chick-fil-A Holiday Basketball Tournament

NASHUA – Marcus Haynes scored 15 points to lead the Goffstown High School boys basketball team to a 51-35 win over Milford in the final day of the Chick-fil-A Holiday Basketball Tournament at Nashua South.

Haynes made five 3-pointers for all of his points, and finished the tournament with a total of 12 made baskets from behind the arc, half of his team’s 24 in three games. Patrick Kelsey added six points for the Grizzlies, who led by as many as 16 points in the first half.

Ross Briggs had 10 points for Milford, his third game in double figures, while Jack Briggs added nine points, all on 3-pointers. The Spartans trailed by 25 points with 5:05 to play, but outscored Goffstown 14-5 over the game’s final four minutes.

Milford returns to Division II action on Jan. 3 when it hosts Windham, while Goffstown gets back to its schedule on Jan. 6 at home against Bishop Brady. The Spartans and Grizzlies play again on Jan. 14 at Goffstown.
