Goffstown’s Duval named New Hampshire Gatorade Football Player of the Year

For the second time in three years, New Hampshire’s Gatorade Football Player of the Year is a Goffstown Grizzly.

Andrew Duval, a senior from Goffstown High School, is the 2017 winner of the award, given annually by Gatorade to players in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

A receiver, defensive back and kick returner, Duval was a three-year starter for the Grizzlies, helping to lead the team to the postseason in all three seasons, including an undefeated championship in 2015. Goffstown finished the year 9-2, falling to eventual-champion Winnacunnet in the Division I semifinals.

For the year, Duval had 27 catches for 718 yards – an average of 26.6 yards per catch – and 11 touchdowns and also had two rushing touchdowns, a passing touchdown and returned a kick for a touchdown. He added five interceptions on defense, including one returned for a score.

“Andrew Duval is a complete football player on both sides of the ball as well as special teams,” Concord coach Eric Brown said. “He is a threat to score on any play.”

“Duval plays both offense and defense and is extremely dangerous on special teams as a return man,” Exeter coach Bill Ball added. “In my opinion, he’s the best player in the state.”

Duval joins Connor Bourque (2015) as winners of the award from Goffstown.
