H/B boys hand Souhegan a loss

The Hollis/Brookline High School boys tennis team picked up its second win of the season over Souhegan, beating the Sabers 7-2 Saturday.

The Cavaliers (10-3 in Division II) won five of six singles matches to solidify a spot in the playoffs, while Souhegan ends its season having lost five of its final six matches to finish 6-8.

Corbin Tulley of H/B won the No. 1 match, beating Nick Poulack 8-6, and teammate Matt Kozsan won the No. 2 match over Liam Murphy, also by  a score of 8-6. Jonathon Gaul took the No. 3 match, knocking off Matt Protzmann 8-6, while Ryan Connell won the No. 4 match 8-2 over Nate Redington, and Sam Mangano beat David Monleon 8-1 in the No. 5 match.

Ben Bacher had the lone singles win for Souhegan, beating Gaetan Ciot 8-6.

Poulack and Redington won the No. 1 doubles match, beating Tulley and Kozsan 8-5, but Connell and Gaul defeated Murphy and Protzmann 8-4 in the No. 2 match and Mangano and Ciot knocked off Bacher and Emmond 8-2 in the No. 3 match.

H/B finishes up the regular season Sunday with a match against Con-Val. Going into the match, the Cavs were seventh in the standings, and a win could move them up a spot with the playoffs set to begin on Tuesday.
