Only two months into his new role as athletic director at Pelham High School and Justin Hufft was forced into handling one of his biggest challenges in six years as an AD.
Pelham thought it already had its football coach in place for the foreseeable future. John Trisciani was hired by Pelham in June, a month before Hufft even slid into his job. Following the retirement of six-time state champion coach Tom Babaian, the 63-year-old Trisciani was brought in by longtime AD Todd Kress.
On July 1, Kress passed the AD baton to Hufft with most of the fall schedule in place and a new football coach secured for a program that was coming off its fourth-straight title – second in Division II – and looking to extend one of the nations longest gridiron winning streaks.
