LONDONDERRY – This year’s version of the Winnacunnet High School field hockey team is one of the youngest that Heidi Hand can remember having.
So when the Warriors had controlled play for most of the first half of Monday’s game, and then saw Londonderry score the game’s first goal just 36 seconds into the second half, she wondered how exactly the players would respond.
Winnacunnet held up on defense over the next few minutes before countering with an offensive surge of its own, as the Warriors scored five unanswered goals on the way to a 5-1 victory over the Lancers in a Division I game.
