Londonderry moves up in final NHHSSports Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll of regular season

The regular season is down to its final week and it seems the top 10 teams in the NHHSSports Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll have solidified their spots.

Londonderry was the only team to move up, as the Lancers switched spots with Nashua South, taking the sixth spot in the weekly poll while the Panthers moved down to seventh. The top five remained the same for just the second time this season while the bottom three teams also were the same as the previous week.

Bishop Guertin held on to all the first-place votes to remain in the top spot and the Cardinals will close out the year with home games against Keene-Monadnock on Monday and Cape Elizabeth, from Maine, on Thursday. Exeter, which was again a unanimous choice for No. 2, is on the road at Salem on Monday and at Concord on Thursday.

Portsmouth, the top Division II team in the poll for most of the season, remained at No. 3 with three games left on the schedule. The Clippers are at Winnacunnet on Monday, followed by a trip to Souhegan on Wednesday and the finale Friday at home against Oyster River-Newmarket.

Pinkerton stayed at No. 4 and will try to bounce back from a three-loss week with games at Nashua South on Monday and home against Londonderry on Tuesday. Derryfield kept the fifth spot for consecutive weeks for the first time since the first two polls of the season. The Cougars travel to Manchester Memorial-Central on Monday, then host St. Thomas on Wednesday before wrapping up at Alvirne on Friday.

Londonderry, which grabbed its highest ranking of the season this week at No. 6, goes on the road, playing at Dover on Monday and at Pinkerton on Tuesday. After dropping one spot to seventh, South will host Pinkerton on Monday and welcome Keene-Monadnock to town on Wednesday.

Timberlane stayed at No. 8 and will host its final home game Monday against Windham and then wrap up on Friday at Spaulding. Winnacunnet held on at No. 9 heading into Monday’s finale against Portsmouth.

St. Thomas, which has won seven in a row and stayed at No. 10, has a busy week, starting with Monday’s game against Oyster River-Newmarket. The Saints head to Derryfield on Wednesday, then host Goffstown on Friday and Coe-Brown on Saturday.
