Manchester Central boys soccer rallies to beat Bishop Guertin

The Manchester Central High School boys soccer team overcame a slow start to beat Bishop Guertin 3-1 on Tuesday in a Division I game.

After the Cardinals picked up the game’s first goal early, the Little Green (7-2-1) tied it up just before halftime when Zack Elliot’s throw in went to Max Kalampalikis in the box. Kalampalikis hit the cross bar with a shot, but the loose ball ended up near Josue Assantha was able to knock it into the net to tie the game.

Central controlled the play in the second half of the game. Elliot dropped another throw-in into the box, where Kalampalikas banged it home to give the Little Green a 2-1 lead. In the final minutes of the game, Bishop Guertin sent its goalie down the field on a own corner kick. The ball was cleared out and Assantha fed the ball upfield to a streaking Elliot who scored in the empty net.
