Merrimack climbs into MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Girls Lacrosse Coaches Poll for the 1st time

The Tomahawks picked up three wins in their first three games, and for the first time, they’ve grabbed a spot in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Girls Lacrosse Coaches Poll, coming in at No. 8.
Portsmouth was the unanimous No. 1 again this week, getting all 10 first-place votes. The Clippers picked up three wins and will play three more, starting with Souhegan at home on Monday. They’ll head to Central Catholic, of Lawrence, Mass., on Wednesday and then host Dover on Friday.
The rest of the top five stayed the same, with Bishop Guertin staying at No. 2 and Souhegan remaining at No. 3. The Cardinals go to Manchester to face Central-West on Monday, then host Windham on Thursday and go to Westwood (Mass.) on Saturday. After going to Portsmouth on Monday, Souhegan hosts Nashua North on Friday.
Pinkerton held on at No. 4 and Bedford rounded out the top five. The Astros go to Dover on Monday and then host Andover (Mass.) on Wednesday and Manchester Central-West on Friday. The Bulldogs host Nashua South on Monday for their only game of the week.
Exeter kept the No. 6 spot in the pole, with games this week at home against Salem on Monday and Goffstown on Friday, and a game at Winnacunnet on Wednesday in between.
Nashua South moved up a spot to No. 7 and the Panthers go on the road to play Bedford on Monday before a home-and-home with Concord on Wednesday and Friday. Merrimack will play its first game as a member of the top 10 when it hosts Timberlane on Wednesday and the Tomahawks will go to Merrimack Valley on Friday.
Windham dropped to No. 9 and the Jaguars have a home game against Concord on Monday and then road games at Hollis Brookline on Tuesday and at Bishop Guertin on Thursday. Winnacunnet took the final spot in the poll this week and the Warriors will host Oyster River-Newmarket on Monday and Exeter on Tuesday before having 13 days off.
