CJ Barrett hit a 3-pointer in the final minute Friday to give the Nashua High School North boys basketball team the lead for good, and the Titans held on for a 57-54 win over Souhegan in the third-place game at the Chick-Fil-A Holiday Basketball Tournament at Nashua South.

Moments before Barrett’s 3, a basket by Souhegan’s Andersen Geffrard had give the Sabers a 54-53 lead, one of 11 lead changes and three ties in a back-and-forth final quarter. Geffrard had a chance to tie in the final seconds, but his 3 was off the mark and North held on for the win.

Souhegan had a 14-11 lead early in the second quarter, but North went on an 11-2 run, going up 22-16 on a 3-pointer by Casey Lane. The Sabers were able to cut the lead to five at halftime and trailed 35-30 with 1:30 left in the third quarter. But a three-point play by Matt McCoole and a basket in the final seconds by Max Leonard tied the game going into the fourth.

Lane finished with 20 points, including four 3s, for North and Barrett added 11 points, with three 3-pointers, while Ryan Lynn had six points. Geffrard scored 18 points to lead Souhegan while McCoole had 11 and Ryan Hickey had nine.

In the other boys games, Nashua South knocked off Goffstown 64-49, and Thornton Academy beat Milford, 57-51.

Girls

Goffstown 50, Campbell 30

The Grizzlies took third place in the tournament with a 20-point win over the Cougars, as Kelly Walsh scored 22 points, including three 3-pointers.

Shannon Gifford added eight points for Goffstown and Jessica Edmonds chipped in with six, as the Grizzlies led by 10 at halftime. Goffstown went up 32-19 late in the third quarter, but a 7-1 run by Campbell got the Cougars within seven points with 6:16 to play before the Grizzlies pulled away.

Karleigh Schultz scored 12 points, going 8 of 10 at the free throw line, for the Cougars, while Emma Rousseau had seven points and Caitlin Newell added six.

In the other girls games, Keene beat Nashua North and Alvirne defeated Milford.
