NASHUA – Angela King scored 18 points, including a 3-pointer to tie the game with less than six seconds remaining in regulation, and the Nashua High School North girls basketball team came back to beat Souhegan 49-44 in overtime at the Nashua Holiday Basketball Tournament at Nashua High School South.
King hit four 3-pointers to lead the Titans and Natalee McInerney was also in double figures with 10 points. Aidan Walker added seven points and Summer St. Pierre had six, as North went 7 for 8 from the free throw line in overtime to take the win.
Kate Canavan led Souhegan with 24 points, hitting six 3-pointers, and Hadley Corcoran added six points.
The Sabers used a 12-1 run in the first half to take a 17-6 lead, but the Titans responded with an 11-1 run to make it an 18-17 Souhegan lead with 2:46 left in the first half. The Sabers were able to hang on to the lead, going up 23-19 early in the third quarter before North came back.
The second half saw six lead changes and three ties, including after King’s 3 in the final seconds to make it 42-42.
Milford 33, Nashua South 31
The Spartans trailed by nine points going into the fourth quarter, but outscored the Panthers 18-7 in the final frame, including 7-3 in the final two minutes to get the win.
Avery Fuller led Milford with 10 points, nine of which came in the final eight minutes, while Bailey Johnson and Claire Cote each had seven points.
Ella Karavanic had 14 points to lead South, which had a 17-11 lead at halftime and was up 24-15 after three, and Maizie Barker was also in double figures with 12 points. No one else gad more than two points for the Panthers.
Milford will take on North in the girls championship game at 5 p.m. Thursday, while South will face Souhegan in the consolation game at 2 p.m. Both games will be held at Nashua High School South.
