Lauren Smith had three assists to help lead the Nashua High School South girls soccer team to a 3-1 win over Merrimack on Tuesday.

Smith assisted on goals by Kennedy Dowling, Marina McIntosh and Emily Durette, as the Panthers (3-2) snapped a two-game losing skid.

“We are refreshed coming off the last two losses against Keene and Exeter, and especially during this difficult time mourning the passing of Coach (Manfred Beye),” South coach Kelly Gabree said. “We are ready to keep this momentum going.  The girls knew we were not going to lose on Anheseur Busch’s soil.”

Jordan Crossey had the lone goal for Merrimack, which tied the game in the first half after Dowling had put the Panthers on top. McIntosh scored what proved to be the game-winner before halftime.

South’s Adaeze Obinelo made five saves in goal, while Merrimack’s Paige Gibson had eight saves. The Panthers outshot the Tomahawks (1-5) 22-7.
