NASHUA – It started with a couple of bad bounces Wednesday night, and just as it seemed the Nashua South-Pelham boys hockey team might settle in, the Kings were starring down a deficit they couldn’t make up.

Nashua North-Souhegan’s Chase McBride scored two goals in the game’s first 10 minutes that many watching weren’t entirely sure how they went. That cushion gave the SaberTitans plenty of room to work with in what ended up a 4-1 win at Conway Arena.

“North has some real fire power on offense,” South-Pelham coach Jordan Sarracco said. “We came out a little flat. They came out and were hungry and skated hard right from the first puck drop.

“Two of those goals, I don’t know what happened. That’s also part of it, sometimes, you take them when you can get it. That’s part of hockey.”

Brendon Doughty had the lone goal for the Kings (1-4) at 1:55 of the third period to give his team a spark, but South-Pelham wasn’t able to capitalize on those opportunities.

“We hit some posts, we had a lot of opportunities that just didn’t go our way and that’s what lost us the game,” Sarracco said.

Those chances also including the Kings’ power play, which was 0 for 5 on the night.

“We’re getting a lot of possession on the power play,” Sarracco said. “We’re getting the puck in the zone, we’re getting them pined, but we need more shots and we need more shots that hit the net.

“We’ll see them toward the end of the season and see if we can get some payback.”

Up next: The Kings have back-to-back home games, starting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday against Trinity. South-Pelham then hosts Bow at 6:10 p.m. Jan. 17.
