NHHSS Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll gets a shakeup heading into postseason
The boys lacrosse playoffs get underway this week and the NHHSS Coaches Poll got a little bit of a shakeup heading into the second season.
The top four remained the same, with Bishop Guertin once again taking the top spot after winning two games against Salem last week. The Cardinals open the playoffs by hosting Nashua North at 3 p.m. on Thursday in the Division I preliminary round.
Exeter comes in at No. 2 again, after beating Bedford twice in the final week of the regular season. The Blue Hawks received a bye into the quarterfinals, where they will host either Merrimack or Dover on June 5.
Pinkerton and Londonderry, at No. 3 and 4, respectively, split a pair of games last week and could potentially meet for a third time on June 5. The Astros will host Salem in the prelims at 5 p.m. on Thursday, with the winner going to play at Londonderry in the quarterfinals.
After getting a pair of wins over Derryfield, Winnacunnet takes over as the top Division II team in the poll, jumping up to No. 5. The Warriors will travel to face Portsmouth in the first round of the playoffs on Monday at 6 p.m.
Bedford stayed at No. 6 and will host either Souhegan or Concord in the quarterfinals on June 5, while Portsmouth switched spots with Winnacunnet after getting two wins against Dover last week. Nashua South picked up three wins last week and moved up to eighth in the poll; the Panthers will host either Bishop Guertin or North in the quarterfinals.
Derryfield dropped to No. 9 after falling twice to Winnacunnet. The Cougars will host Goffstown in a D2 first-round game on Monday. Hollis Brookline and Windham tied for 10th in the poll and the two will face each other in another D2 first-round game.
