NHHSSports Football Performances of the Week (Nov. 5)

Every week during the football season, on the Ninth State Sports Show podcast, Joe Marchilena and Mike Lochman will each select a Player and a Team of the Week from the previous weekend’s performances.

Here are the selections for Week 9:

Player of the Week

• Mike’s Pick: Michael Caron, Exeter. The Blue Hawks quarterback helped lead his team to a 21-10 win over Londonderry in the regular-season finale. Caron was 10 of 15 passing for 154 yards and a touchdown in Exeter’s victory, which helped it earn the No. 2 seed in Division I.
• Joe’s Pick: James Caruso. With injuries depleting the Astros’ backfield, Caruso moved from his tight end position to help lead his team to a 30-17 victory over Alvirne to finish the regular season. The junior ran for 99 yards and a touchdown in the victory.

Team of the Week

• Mike’s Pick: Merrimack. In need of a win to make the postseason, the Tomahawks rallied in the second half to beat Bishop Guertin 34-21 and return to the playoffs after missing them last season.
• Joe’s Pick: Franklin. The Golden Tornadoes needed a victory over Bishop Brady to get into the playoffs for the first time since 2018. Franklin did that, going on the road to get a 17-7 win over the Giants to return to the postseason.
