Every week during the football season, on the Ninth State Sports Show podcast, Joe Marchilena and Mike Lochman will each select a Player and a Team of the Week from the previous weekend’s performances.

Here are the selections for Week 2:

Player of the Week

  • Mike’s Pick: Joey Dykstra, John Stark. The senior did a little bit of everything for the Generals in a 23-12 loss to Pelham – 20 tackles, a forced fumble and recovery on defense, two touchdowns and 178 total yards on offense.
  • Joe’s Pick: Nate Bowen, Bishop Guertin. The sophomore quarterback had two rushing touchdowns to go with his 160 yards of offense in the Cardinals’ 28-20 win over Goffstown.

Team of the Week

  • Mike’s Pick: Exeter. The Blue Hawks turned in another dominating performance in a 36-0 win over Nashua North, piling up 344 yards of offense, including 220 in the first half while building a 29-0 lead.
  • Joe’s Pick: Manchester Memorial. The Crusaders picked up their first win of the season in exciting fashion, as Collin Beaulieu ran in from 2 yards out as time expired to give Memorial a 21-19 win against Dover.
