Every week during the football season, on the Ninth State Sports Show podcast, Joe Marchilena and Mike Lochman will each select a Player and a Team of the Week from the previous weekend’s performances.

Here are the selections for Week 4:

Player of the Week

  • Mike’s Pick: Cesar Flahn, Manchester Central. The senior had just four carries but gained 101 yards and a touchdown to help lead the Little Green to a 49-35 win over Portsmouth-Oyster River. Flahn also had seven tackles and an interception on defense.
  • Joe’s Pick: Cody Jackson/Josh Tripp, Nashua South. The senior duo combined for one of the best passing/receiving games in recent memory. Jackson was of 16 of 23 passing for 457 yards and six touchdowns, with five of those scoring tosses going to Tripp, who had 10 catches for 302 yards. Jackson also had 72 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Team of the Week

  • Mike’s Pick: Winnacunnet. The Warriors saw Exeter gain all the momentum with a go-ahead scoring drive on the Blue Hawks’ first possession of the second half and answered with three straight touchdown drives to take a 31-21 win.
  • Joe’s Pick: Bishop Guertin. The Cardinals trailed Salem 28-21 at halftime last Saturday and hadn’t been able to stop the Blue Devils in the first half. Instead, Bishop Guertin just kept the ball away, including on a 16-play, 96-yard drive that ate up 8:51 and ended in the game-winning touchdown.
