With tournament games called off and the winter sports season in the books, the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association released its plan Monday to name champions for the sports that were unable to complete the season.
In each division, the title of co-champions will be awarded to the highest-seeded teams from each side of the respective tournament brackets, a decision that was unanimously voted on by the NHIAA’s Executive Council. All teams that were remaining in the tournament will be recognized as a runner-up.
“While most wish the tournaments could have been concluded in their normal fashion, this compromise solution takes into account the regular season and a team’s progress through the tournament prior to the suspension of play,” the NHIAA released in a statement. “We hope that this solution will bring some closure to the NHIAA winter season.”
