North, South boys advance to final in Nashua Holiday Tournament
Titans, Panthers will meet in the championship game for the third year in a row.
NASHUA – Robinson Rodriguez and Alize Roig-Cortes each scored in double figures to lead the Nashua High School North boys basketball team to a 62-34 win Friday over Souhegan in the Nashua Holiday Tournament.
Rodriguez had 15 points and Roig-Cortes had 13 points as the Titans outscored the Sabers 29-4 in the second quarter to take control of the game played at Nashua High School South. Souhegan led 11-8 late in the first quarter, but a 17-1 run by North changed momentum.
Adamze Mansaray added nine points, as he hit three of North’s seven 3-pointers, and Josh Sullivan had eight points, including two 3s.
The Sabers got points from 10 players, led by Weston Hickman, who finished with nine markers. Sean Zerega added seven points and Drew Reagan finished with five.
North will play in the boys championship game against South at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at South. Souhegan will face Milford at 1:30 p.m. in the consolation game.
Nashua South 64, Milford 41
The Panthers got out to a 12-0 lead in the first quarter and led by as many as 31 points on the way to the win in the Nashua Holiday Tournament.
Josh Caruso led South with 18 points and Shane Lemire was also in double figures with 10 points. Will McKenney came off the bench to add eight points and Ayden Clough chipped in six markers.
The Spartans got 12 points from Will Emerson and eight points from Tyler Contable, while Ethan Szopa chipped in with seven points.
North and South will meet in the championship game for the third year in a row, with the Titans having won the two previous times.
