GOFFSTOWN – Sam Guilmette and the Oyster River-Newmarket boys lacrosse team talked before Friday’s game against Goffstown about how much the outcome could impact the Bobcats’ season.
So when the Grizzlies tied the game at the buzzer to force overtime, the senior felt his stomach drop.
“That was my guy and I let that happen,” Guilmette said. “It was tough, but the guys pulled me together in the huddle and that’s what we needed to get back out there.”
After Goffstown had a shot to win it early in the first overtime, when a shot clanged off the crossbar, ORN took the win with 37.4 seconds left in the second overtime. Guilmette found Alex Moody for a manup goal and the Bobcats escaped with a 7-6 win that helped them keep pace with the teams in the top half of the Division II standings.
