The Pinkerton Academy boys lacrosse team opens the 2019 season atop the preseason NHHSS Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll for the first time, as the Astros prepare to defend their Division I title.
Pinkerton, which defeated Bishop Guertin in the final for the second time in four years, received seven first-place votes to take the top spot, while the Cardinals received two first-place votes and sit at No. 2. Pinkerton and Bishop Guertin have held the top two spots in every poll since its inception in 2017.
Exeter opens the year at No. 3 after making back-to-back semifinal appearances, while Derryfield, the three-time defending Division II champs, comes in at No. 4. Londonderry, a semifinalist last year in D1, rounds out the top five and Portsmouth, the runner-up in D2 the last two years, is sixth.
After missing the playoffs last year, Souhegan opens the season at No. 7 with Bedford and Nashua South coming in at Nos. 8 and 9, respectively. Dover, which moves up to D1 this year, rounds out the top 10.
