The Pinkerton Academy girls lacrosse team moved up another spot for the second week in a row in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Coaches Poll.
After going 4-0 during spring vacation week, the Astros moved up one more spot to come in at No. 2 in the poll this week, bumping Bishop Guertin down a spot to No. 3. Portsmouth was again an unanimous pick for the top spot, getting all eight first-place votes.
The Clippers will take their No. 1 ranking into a busy week, as they host Nashua South and Exeter on Monday and Wednesday, respectively, and play at Windham on Friday. Meanwhile, Pinkerton is on the road all week, going to Exeter on Monday, to Londonderry on Wednesday and to Reading (Mass.) on Saturday.
Bishop Guertin will be at home all week, as the Cardinals host Salem on Monday and Winnacunnet on Tuesday before welcoming Moses Brown, of Providence, on Thursday. Exeter moved up two spots to No. 4 in this week’s poll, and after games against Pinkerton and Portsmouth, the Blue Hawks go to Dover on Friday.
Souhegan held on to the No. 5 spot to round out the top five, as the Sabers host Manchester Central-West and Dover on Monday and Wednesday, respectively, and play at Londonderry on Friday.
Winnacunnet jumped two spots to No. 6 this week despite having not played for 13 days. The Warriors return to action Monday at home against Alvirne before going to Bishop Guertin on Tuesday and hosting Timberlane on Friday. Nashua South held on to the seventh spot and will go to Portsmouth on Monday, host Nashua North on Wednesday and visit Hollis Brookline on Friday.
Merrimack, which has had 10 days off, moved up a spot to No. 8 and the Tomahawks will play three games this week, as they host Manchester Memorial on Monday and go on the road to Hollis Brookline on Wednesday and Keene-Monadnock on Thursday.
Bedford dropped to No. 9 in the poll and will host three games this week against Concord on Monday, Reading (Mass.) on Thursday and Manchester Central-West on Friday. St. Thomas moved back into the poll for the first time since the preseason poll, taking the final spot. The Saints will play at Bishop Brady on Tuesday and at Pelham on Friday.
