The Pinkerton Academy boys lacrosse team picked up a pair of wins over tough out-of-state competition last week and were rewarded with a few first-place votes in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll.
The Pinkerton Academy boys lacrosse team picked up a pair of wins over tough out-of-state competition last week and were rewarded with a few first-place votes in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll.
After wins over Longmeadow and Hingham, the Astros grabbed three first-place votes and held on to No. 2 in the poll, while Bishop Guertin got the other dozen first-place votes and remained at No. 1. Each has a big rivalry game coming up this week, as the Cardinals host Bedford on Tuesday and the Astros go to Londonderry on Wednesday.
Speaking of the Bulldogs, they held on to the No. 3 spot after three wins last week, including one over Exeter, which remained at No. 4. The Blue Hawks grabbed a key win against Portsmouth, which once again rounded out the top five.
Derryfield and Winnacunnet held on to the Nos. 6 and 7 spots, respectively. The Cougars picked up a pair of wins during April vacation week while the Warriors were idle.
Dover continued its steady climb up the poll, coming in at No. 8 after a pair of wins, while Merrimack fell to No. 9 following a loss to Londonderry. The Lancers climbed back into the poll, taking the final spot.

The coaches poll is voted on by boys lacrosse coaches from around the state and members of the media. The poll will be updated every Monday throughout the regular season.
