Pinkerton takes top spot in final NHHSS Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll

The Pinkerton Academy boys lacrosse team moved back into the top spot in the NHHSS Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll following the Astros’ 14-12 win over Bishop Guertin in the Division I championship game.

Pinkerton, which started the year in the No. 1 spot, won its second D1 title in a row and third in five years with its comeback win over the Cardinals. Bishop Guertin, which played in the title game for the 14th straight year, received every second-place vote in the final poll to come in at No. 2.

Exeter, which advanced to the D1 semifinals for the third year in a row, took the No. 3 spot, just ahead of Derryfield, which finished at No. 4 after winning its fourth consecutive D2 championship. Souhegan, the other D1 semifinalist, held on to the No. 5 spot in the poll while Winnacunnet, which advanced to the D2 title game for the first time, came in at No. 6.

Londonderry moved up to No. 7 after making the D1 playoffs this year and Portsmouth took the eighth spot after reaching the D2 semifinals for the fourth year in a row. Hanover, which fell in the D1 quarterfinals, came in at No. 9 while Hopkinton, after winning its third straight D3 title, rounded out the top 10.

Here is the NHHSS Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll. These are the top 10 lacrosse teams in the state, with record in parentheses followed by first-place votes/points and last week’s ranking.

Dropped out: Pelham.

Also receiving votes: Concord (10-7), 5; Goffstown (13-5), 3; Timberlane (7-9), 2.

The coaches poll is voted on by coaches from all three divisions, as well as members of the media.
