Playoff Picture: Girls Lacrosse (May 25)

The girls lacrosse regular season is in the books and the playoffs are set to begin on May 28.

While we wait for the NHIAA to release the brackets, here is what we expect the postseason tournaments to look like for all three divisions.

Note: With the NHIAA’s 70-percent rule in place for the postseason, Division I will have nine playoff teams, Division II will have 12 teams and Division III will have 11 teams in the playoffs. Per By-Law Article IV, Sect. 4-C, teams that petitioned down a division for this two-year cycle are eligible for the postseason. Standings based off results reported to NHIAA.org and other media outlets. These are not official.

Division I

Team (record, rating, previous)

  1. Portsmouth (14-2, 3.4375, 1st)
  2. Bedford (13-3, 3.2500, 3rd)
  3. Bishop Guertin (14-3, 3.2353, 2nd)
  4. Souhegan (13-4, 3.0588, 4th)
  5. Pinkerton (12-6, 2.6667, 5th)
  6. Nashua South (11-7, 2.4444, 6th)
  7. Exeter (10-8, 2.2222, 7th)
  8. Londonderry (7-10, 1.5882, 8th)
  9. Dover (6-11, 1.4118, 9th)

Eliminated: Merrimack (5-11, 1.2500); Concord (3-14, 0.7059); Salem (2-15, 0.4706); Nashua North (1-17, 0.2222).

Note: In Friday’s Playoff Picture, Bishop Guertin’s rating was incorrectly calculated, due to the fact the Cardinals should have received 3 points for their win over Groton-Dunstable, not 4. Per By-Law Article IV, Sect. 8-A, due to Groton-Dunstable’s enrollment, it would be considered a Division III team according to the NHIAA’s division alignment, leading to the lower point total for the win.
