Playoff Roundup: Bishop Brady returns to D3 field hockey final
Here are results from Thursday’s high school playoff action in field hockey and girls volleyball.
Kimble Rose scored the game’s only goal and the No. 6 Bishop Brady High School field hockey team returned to the Division III championship with a 1-0 win Thursday over No. 7 Newfound at Bill Ball Stadium in Exeter.
Rose scored with 7:31 remaining in the third quarter in the semifinal, giving the Giants (12-4-1) their third win of the season against the Bears (10-7-1). Ava Archambault finished with six saves for Bishop Brady.
Alexandra Normandin had six saves for Newfound.
Girls Volleyball
No. 7 Hollis Brookline 3, No. 10 Nashua North 0
The Cavaliers grabbed an opening-round win over the Titans by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-23.
Kate Berrigan had nine kills, five aces and eight digs for HB (14-5) while Anika Carlson had 10 kills, one ace and one block. Maggie Noble had nine kills and two aces and Lolly Adair had five kills, three aces and two blocks.
The Cavs move on to face No. 2 Goffstown in the D1 quarterfinals on Saturday.
No. 4 Portsmouth Christian 3, No. 5 Newfound 0
The Eagles advanced in the D3 quarterfinals by sweeping the Bears. Scores were 25-16, 25-17 and 25-20.
Heidi Geyer had 11 kills and six digs and Quinn Arico added seven kills, 15 assists and seven aces for PCA (14-3). Caroline Braman had sevens kills and one block while Lexi Jordan had nine assists, four aces and five digs and Emma Eisner had 19 digs.
PCA will take on No. 1 Inter-Lakes in the semifinals on Thursday.
