Playoff Roundup: Hanover field hockey takes out Oyster River to move on to D2 semis
Here are results from Friday’s high school field hockey playoff action.
Sophia Mancini scored with 2:34 remaining in overtime to give the No. 7 Hanover High School field hockey team a 1-0 win Friday over No. 2 Oyster River in the Division II quarterfinals.
Guinevere Riordan made five saves, including a one-on-one breakaway in overtime, to help the Bears (11-6-1) advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2019. Hanover will take on No. 3 John Stark at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at Bill Ball Stadium in Exeter.
Oyster River (15-2) got a solid game from goalie Brooke Emond.

Caylin Worthen scored off an assist from Jillian Fredette in the first quarter and it was enough to get the Generals past the Pride in their D2 quarterfinal played at New England College.
Adie Boldic played well for John Stark (14-3) and Rowin Ledy made eight saves, as the Generals return to the semifinals for the third year in a row.
No. 4 Bow 3, No. 5 Souhegan 1
Sophie Coombs scored what proved to be the game-winning goal on a penalty stroke early in the fourth quarter as the Falcons advanced with a win over the Sabers in the D2 quarterfinals.
Coombs also had an assist on goal by Josie Johnson, which came less than two minutes after the stroke early in the fourth quarter. Shire Kelley added a goal in the third quarter, as Bow (13-3-1) came back from a 1-0 deficit at halftime.
Peyton Vaughn had an assist on the first goal while Gianna Trott, Kaylee Jacques and Elise Jacques played well for the Falcons.
The Sabers (11-6) got their lone goal from Ori Dart in the first quarter.
Bow moves on to the semifinals for the second year in a row, where it will face No. 1 Hollis Brookline at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bill Ball Stadium in Exeter.
