Portsmouth, Bedford trade spots again in NHHSSports Girls Lacrosse Coaches Poll

For the second week in row, the top two teams in the NHHSSports Girls Lacrosse Coaches Poll traded spots.

Portsmouth returned to the top of the poll this week, after handing Bedford its first loss of the season, while the Bulldogs returned to No. 2 after moving up last week. The Clippers, who received seven first-place votes, had been No. 1 for the first three weeks of the poll with Bedford, who received four first-place votes, at No. 2.

They both have busy weeks ahead of them, as the Clippers go to Exeter on Monday, to Bow on Wednesday and host Nashua South on Friday. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have three games at home, starting Monday against Salem. That’s followed by Bishop Guertin on Wednesday and Central Catholic, from Lawrence, Mass., on Friday.

Bishop Guertin remained at No. 3 for the fifth straight week, with games at Londonderry on Monday, at Bedford on Wednesday and home against Concord on Friday coming up.

Souhegan and Pinkerton held on to Nos. 4 and 5 in the poll. The Sabers travel to Nashua South on Monday and then host Merrimack on Thursday, while the Astros are at Concord on Monday, host Dover on Thursday and then travel to face Chelmsford (Mass.) on Saturday.

Winnacunnet and Windham each moved up a spot, to Nos. 6 and 7, respectively. The Warriors go on the road to Dover on Monday and to Kennett on Thursday before hosting Hanover on Saturday, while the Jaguars play three games in three days, hosting ConVal on Monday, going to Goffstown on Tuesday and then to John Stark/Hillsboro-Deering on Wednesday.

Hollis Brookline moved back into the poll for the first time since the preseason after picking up four straight wins. The Cavaliers are back in action this week at Alvirne on Monday before hosting Keene-Monadnock on Thursday.

Exeter dropped three spots to No. 9 this week while Nashua South dropped a spot to No. 10. The Blue Hawks will host Portsmouth on Monday, followed by trips to Merrimack on Wednesday and Salem on Friday. South hosts Souhegan on Monday and Dover on Wednesday before going to Portsmouth on Friday.
