HOLLIS – The high school girls lacrosse game on Thursday between Portsmouth and Hollis Brookline was important for both teams.

The Clippers wanted to prove that they were still the team to beat in Division II, while the Cavaliers had a great opportunity to show how far they had come since losing 16-10 in the 2018 D2 final to the Clippers.

In the end, Portsmouth’s championship pedigree won out, as the Clippers rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the second half, with junior midfielder Sallie Squire netting the game-winning goal 1:07 into overtime during a 7-6 triumph.
