The Portsmouth High School girls lacrosse team will open its second year in Division I as the top team in the NHHSSports Preseason Girls Lacrosse Coaches Poll.

After finishing as the runner-up in D1 a year ago and finish second in the final poll for 2023, the Clippers move up to No. 1, a spot they held for three weeks during the regular season last year.

Bedford, the defending D1 champ, received more first-place votes (4-3) than Portsmouth, but took the No. 2 spot to open the season. Bishop Guertin, which also received a first-place vote, is at No. 3.

Pinkerton opens the year at No. 4 in the poll while Nashua South rounds out the top five. Souhegan comes in at No. 6, as the Sabers received one first-place vote while Dover and Hollis Brookline ended up tied for seventh.

Windham and Winnacunnet round out the top 10, opening at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively.

Here is the NHHSS Girls Lacrosse Coaches Poll for the preseason. These are the top 10 lacrosse teams in the state, with last year’s records, first-place votes/points, and last year’s final ranking (T=tie).

The coaches poll is voted on by coaches from around the state, as well as members of the media.
