The Souhegan High School girls lacrosse team did something it hadn’t done in over seven years last week, and now the Sabers are in a spot they haven’t been in since the beginning of the season.

After getting its first win over Bishop Guertin since 2018, Souhegan jumped up to No. 3 in this week’s MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Coaches Poll, matching their highest rank of the season, which came in the first two weeks.

Portsmouth was again an unanimous choice for No. 1, getting all 10 first-place votes. The Clippers will finish off their regular season at home Wednesday against Man. Central-West.

Pinkerton remained at No. 2 for the fourth week in a row, as the Astros end the year at Nashua North on Wednesday and home against Londonderry on Thursday. Right behind them was Souhegan, which will play at Bedford on Wednesday, host Salem on Thursday and go to Londonderry on Friday.

Exeter dropped a spot to No. 4 this week and will finish its season hosting Bishop Guertin on Wednesday before going to Dover on Friday. Bishop Guertin round out the top five and will play its final game at Exeter.

Winnacunnet also fell one spot to No. 6, despite extending its win streak to 12 games. The Bears will host Hanover on Tuesday before ending the year at Merrimack on Friday.

Nashua South and Bedford traded spots, with the Panthers moving up to No. 7. They’ll play at Windham on Wednesday and then take on Nashua North on Thursday, while Bedford hosts Souhegan on Wednesday and then goes to Goffstown on Friday.

Merrimack held on at No. 9 this week and will go to Oyster River-Newmarket on Tuesday before the finale against Winnacunnet. Londonderry moved into the top 10 for the first time in four weeks, bumping St. Thomas out of the final spot. The Lancers end the regular season by hosting Concord on Wednesday before its games against Pinkerton and Souhegan.
