The top 10 teams remained the same for the second week in a row, but one of them made a big jump in the NHHSS Boys Lacrosse Coach Poll after a successful week.
Souhegan, which has won four games in a row, jumped from the ninth spot in the poll up to No. 6, as the Sabers head into a big-time matchup Monday night against another team in the top 10.
Bishop Guertin, Pinkerton and Exeter were unanimous picks for the top three spots, respectively, in the poll. The Cardinals finish out the regular season with their annual game against Duxbury (Mass.) on Tuesday before facing Nashua North and South.
Pinkerton is coming off a one-goal win over Cohasset (Mass.) last Saturday while it has a busy week with four games, including ones against Hanover, Exeter and Andover (Mass.). Meanwhile, Exeter bounced back from a thumping it took from Bishop Guertin to end Derryfield’s 65-game winning streak last Friday.
Speaking of the Cougars, they remain at No. 4 for the week, as they’ll look to bounce back with a game at undefeated Hollis Brookline on Monday. Londonderry held on to the fifth spot after picking up wins over South and Timberlane, wrapped around a loss to Souhegan.
Souhegan travels to face Portsmouth, the No. 7 team in the poll this week, on Monday, part of a four-game week for the Sabers. The Clippers then finish out the year with games at Kennett and against Spaulding, while Winnacunnet has a road trip Wednesday to face HB.
No team will travel more this week than Hanover, which ends the regular season with back-to-back road games at Pinkerton and Dover before heading to Londonderry on Friday. Pelham rounds out the top 10 for the second week in a row.
