Timberlane staged a big fourth-quarter comeback to hand Derryfield its first loss of the year, giving the Owls a 5-0 start to the season and the No. 5 spot in this week’s top 10.
Bishop Guertin kept the top spot for the 14th week in a row and the Cardinals have a busy week, as they will go to Merrimack (5 p.m., Monday) and Dover (Wednesday) before traveling to Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., to take on Staples (Westport, Conn.) on Saturday. The Wreckers are ranked No. 7 in the Northeast by LaxNumbers and 27th in the country by Inside Lacrosse.
Exeter stays at No. 2 after receiving all the second-place votes, and this week, the Blue Hawks will face Dover (Monday) and Nashua North (Friday) before going on the road to take on Acton-Boxborough, ranked No. 4 in Massachusetts. Pinkerton takes third and will play at Londonderry (4 p.m., Monday) and Concord (Friday) before hosting Hingham, the No. 1 ranked team in Massachusetts.
Portsmouth remains at No. 4, the top ranked team from Division II, after improving to 5-0. The Clippers go to Kennett (2 p.m., Monday) and St. Thomas (Tuesday) this week. Timberlane puts its ranking to the test with home games against Winnacunnet (Tuesday) and Oyster River-Newmarket (Thursday).
Derryfield dropped a spot after its first loss and have a busy week, hosting Hanover (4:30 p.m., Monday), Souhegan (Wednesday) and Windham (Friday). Nashua South also fell one spot to No. 7 after its first loss and the Panthers will take on North (4 p.m., Monday) and Souhegan (Friday) this week. Windham moves up two spots to No. 8 and the Jaguars will play at Alvirne (Tuesday) before the meeting with Derryfield.
Londonderry moves back into the poll at No. 9 and the Lancers have a tough week, hosting Pinkerton (Monday) and Malden Catholic (Wednesday) before going to Bedford (Friday). The Bulldogs, who were idle last week, dropped to No. 10 and will also have a busy week, hosting Souhegan (5:30 p.m., Monday), Hollis Brookline (Wednesday) and Londonderry.
