Top 5 gets another shakeup in this week’s NHHSSports Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll

For the third week in a row, the top half of the NHHSSports Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll went for a spin.

The teams holding Nos. 2-5 flipped, giving us a new No. 2 team for the third straight week.

Bishop Guertin remained the unanimous choice at No. 1, getting a dozen first-place votes. The Cardinals have a busy week ahead of them, going to Dover on Monday before hosting St. John’s Prep (Danvers, Mass.) on Tuesday and Pinkerton on Thursday. They’ll also take on Boston College High on Sunday afternoon.

Portsmouth jumps back into the No. 2 spot after handing Derryfield, who was second last week, it’s first loss of the year. The Clippers return to action Monday at Londonderry before hosting Kingswood on Tuesday and Alvirne on Thursday.

Pinkerton, which has won six in a row, moved up a spot to No. 3, and the Astros only game this week will be Thursday’s matchup with Bishop Guertin. Exeter dropped a spot to No. 4 and goes to Bedford on Monday night before hosting Londonderry on Thursday and Melrose (Mass.) on Saturday.

Derryfield dropped to No. 5 and will look to bounce back with games at Hanover on Tuesday, against Keene-Monadnock on Thursday and Concord on Saturday. Bedford remained at No. 6, the spot its held all season, and will host Exeter on Monday, go to Concord on Wednesday and return home to face Nashua South on Friday.

Timberlane pulled back ahead of Londonderry to reclaim the No. 7 spot after a tie last week. The Owls host a huge game against Windham on Tuesday before going to Kennett on Thursday. The Lancers welcome in Portsmouth on Monday before playing at Manchester on Tuesday and at Exeter on Thursday.

Merrimack held on to the ninth spot, and after a week off, the Tomahawks will host Manchester on Monday before heading to Salem on Friday. St. Thomas again rounds out the top 10, having won three in a row, and the Saints will got to Kennett on Tuesday and host Spaulding on Thursday.
