It was a busy spring, as I saw all or parts of over 70 games this season, between both boys and girls lacrosse. There were plenty of good ones, but this list compiles the five best boys lacrosse games that I saw in person in 2024.

No. 5: Goffstown 16, Kingswood 14 (April 12)
Through one quarter, this game had no chance of being considered for this list. The Grizzlies led 8-2 after one and extended the lead to seven early in the second, but the Knights found a way to come back. Kingswood cut the lead to two midway through the third, but Goffstown went back up by six after three. It was just a one-goal game, however, with 1:20 remaining, before the Grizzlies put it away.
No. 4: Portsmouth 11, Exeter 7 (April 24)
The Blue Hawks dominated possession time in the first half and appeared to have all the momentum after scoring off the faceoff to start the third quarter. But Exeter would score just once more over the final 23 minutes, as the Clippers came to life. The Blue Hawks led 6-5 going into the fourth, but a 3-0 run in 1:16 put Portsmouth up for good midway through the quarter.
No. 3: Bedford 12, Exeter 11 (May 8)
After the Bulldogs had the lead in the first quarter, they spent the next three chasing the Blue Hawks. The game was tied eight times, but after the opening 12 minutes, it was Exeter that kept breaking the tie. The Blue Hawks never led by more than two goals, however, and didn’t score over the final 9:24. Bedford scored with 36.8 seconds left to tie the game for the final time and won it with 15 seconds remaining.
No. 2: Derryfield 9, Timberlane 7 (May 7)
The Cougars got out to a 5-1 lead and looked like they might run away with this game, but the Owls came back to make it a one-goal contest at halftime. Timberlane tied the game at 7 with just under six minutes to play, but two goals in 30 seconds gave Derryfield the lead. (Editor’s Note: This game got bonus points for taking place on my birthday.)
No. 1: Bishop Guertin 13, Bedford 12 (2OT – April 23)
One of the more thrilling regular-season games in recent memory, this game looked like it belonged to the Cardinals in the first half. Bishop Guertin led 8-3 early in the second quarter, but Bedford chipped away, tying the game 10-10 late in the third. The Cardinals went back in front, 12-10, with 10 minutes remaining, but the Bulldogs tied it with 1:04 to play and had a chance to win in regulation. Instead, it was Bishop Guertin getting a goal from Caleb Yeung 52 seconds into the second overtime to get the win.
Honorable Mention: Bishop Guertin 8, Acton-Boxborough 7 (OT – May 21)
