Top Five Girls Lacrosse Games in 2023
It was a busy spring, as I saw all or parts of 60 total games this season, between both boys and girls lacrosse.
It was a busy spring, as I saw all or parts of 60 total games this season, between both boys and girls lacrosse.
There were plenty of good ones, but this list compiles the five best girls lacrosse games that I saw in person in 2023.
No. 5: Nashua South 12, Windham 10 (May 2)
South dominated the first 15 minutes, getting out to a 10-0 lead against Windham, which was undefeated at the time. The Panthers looked to be in complete control, but the Jaguars got on the board quick before halftime, and crept closer in the second half. South scored two quick goals midway through the second half and had to hold on defensively to get a win.
No. 4: Exeter 13, Londonderry 12 (2OT) (May 6)
When these teams met to open the season, it was Exeter winning by seven goals. In the rematch, Londonderry controlled the first half, but the Blue Hawks stormed back early in the second to take the lead. The two teams spent the rest of regulation going back and forth before going to overtime, where Exeter took the win in the second extra session.
No. 3: Bishop Guertin 10, Moses Brown 8 (April 29)
The Cardinals led from start to finish, but the Quakers were able to keep things interesting throughout the game. Bishop Guertin led 6-2 at halftime, but Moses Brown cut the lead in half to start the second half. The Cardinals were up 10-6 late when the Quakers cut into the lead again, but Bishop Guertin was able to close out the win.
No. 2: Bow 11, Hollis Brookline 9 (April 15)
This early-season game ended up being a matchup between the Division III champion and the Division II champion. Bow was able to take the lead early and managed to keep HB at a distance throughout the game. It looked like the Falcons might run away with the game late, going up by as many as four goals, but the Cavaliers responded to keep it close at the end.
No. 1: Bedford 10, Bishop Guertin 8 (April 25)
Bishop Guertin took an early lead as rain fell steadily through the opening of the game. But as the first half wore on, it turned into a deluge, drenching everyone on the field. Despite the downpour, Bedford was able to find a way to rally back, controlling the second half on the way to its first win over the Cardinals since 2019.
