AMHERST – Dina Pitsas scored 19 of her game-high 21 points in the second half Tuesday and the Milford High School girls basketball team defeated Souhegan 49-45.
The win is Milford’s second over Souhegan this season – and second all time. The Spartans ended the game on an 11-2 run to overcome a five-point deficit in the fourth quarter.
Pitsas was 7 of 10 from the free throw line, including 6 of 8 in the fourth quarter, as she scored the game-winning basket with 45 seconds left and added two free throws with 10 seconds to go to ice the win for Milford (10-4 in Division II). Adelle Pitsas added seven points for the Spartans, who reached double digit wins and clinched a winning season for the first time in recent memory.
Souhegan (5-9) got 20 points junior Devon Hickey, while Cori Sousa added six.
Both teams return to the court on Thursday, as Milford hosts Merrimack Valley and Souhegan heads to Hanover.
