What’s Going On: Start of spring regular season just a week away

There is still a week to go until the first official lacrosse games are played in New Hampshire, but it already feels like there is something in the air.

And no, I don’t mean snow.

Ever since the end of last season, when the year finished up with some of the best championship games we’ve seen in a while, followed almost immediately by big news on coaching changes, and then the recruiting trail, and it almost feels like the high school lacrosse season never stopped.

Now, with the dawn of the 2025 spring season creeping over the horizon, this year is shaping up to possibly be one of the most competitive – and unpredictable – in recent memory.

There have been more coaching changes this offseason than in maybe the previous handful of years combined. Meanwhile, the number of lacrosse players from the state going on to play at the next level not only continues to grow, but the caliber of the programs they’re going to is also getting bigger.

What does it all mean? That you are not going to want to miss a second of New Hampshire lacrosse this season.

Lucky for you, you’re in the right place.

Big week coming up

As we get closer to the start of the season, the preseason coverage is going to ramp up, with previews of all six divisions plus our annual Boys and Girls Lacrosse Watch Lists.

The first ever episode of the Ninth State Sports Show: Girls Lacrosse Edition will be posted Tuesday, with the year’s first episode of The Season (2025): Manchester Boys Lacrosse coming on Wednesday.

And before the games begin on Monday, the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Boys and Girls Lacrosse Coaches Polls will be released. Here’s a full schedule of what to look for over the next week.

  • Tuesday: Ninth State Sports Show: Girls Lacrosse Edition.
  • Wednesday: The Season (2025): Manchester Boys Lacrosse, Episode 1.
  • Thursday: Division I boys and girls previews, plus the Ninth State Sports Show: Boys Lacrosse Edition.
  • Friday: Division II boys and girls previews.
  • Saturday: Division III boys and girls previews.
  • Sunday: NHHSSports Preseason Watch Lists for boys and girls lacrosse.
  • Monday: MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Boys and Girls Lacrosse Coaches Polls.

Social media change

When I started the site 15 years ago, the social media landscape was obviously much different, and so were the ways I used it.

I was one of the first in the state to post live updates, specifically to Twitter, and I had to do so by sending a text message to a weird number I had saved in my flip phone to get it to show up on my account. And if I was in a gym, I often times had to go stand near a door to get it to work.

Now, it feels like a lot of those updates are a little bit like a tree falling in the woods with no one around. Interactions on Twitter are way, way down to the point I often wonder if anyone even sees those updates.

Over the years, I’ve missed out on getting some great photos and video, or just didn’t see something happen, because I was too busy trying to rush out a Tweet. That’s not going to happen anymore.

I’ll still use Twitter, and the newer account on Blue Sky, to share information and links to stories, but not as much during games. If you’d like to follow the site on Blue Sky, the screen shot on the side here has that info.

The site is also on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram at the handle @nhhssports.

Just a few links that you might want to bookmark to easily find this spring.

Thanks for being a fan of NH-HighSchoolSports.com and I’m looking forward to a great spring season.
