Windham, Keene move into this week’s NHHSSports Football Coaches Poll
With one week of high school football down, the bottom half of the NHHSSports Coaches Poll received a shake up.
With one week of high school football down, the bottom half of the NHHSSports Coaches Poll received a shake up.
That includes two teams, Windham and Keene, jumping up into the poll for the first time after picking up wins in their respective openers.
Bedford remained at the top after starting the season with a win over Nashua North, grabbing 10 first-place votes to hold off Londonderry (two first-places). The Bulldogs go to Maine this weekend, as they’ll travel to Saco to face Thornton Academy.
The Lancers, who remained at No. 2 after getting a win over Salem, will head south on Friday to take on St. John’s Prep, of Danvers, Mass.
Pinkerton held on to the third spot in the poll after dispatching Andover, Mass., and the Astros will host Portsmouth-Oyster River on Friday. Exeter and Salem switched spots, after the Blue Hawks opened with a win against Dover. Now at No. 4, Exeter travels to face North, while fifth-ranked Salem goes to Alvirne, with both games on Friday.
The Broncos, who knocked off Manchester Central last week, move up two spots to sixth in the poll, while Plymouth, the only Division II team in the poll, held on to seventh. The Bobcats opened with a big win over Milford and will host Kennett on Saturday.
Windham and Keene opened with big wins over Timberlane and Spaulding, respectively, and moved into the poll for the first time. The Jaguars took the No. 8 spot, as they head to Malden (Mass) Catholic on Friday, while the Blackbirds are at No. 9. They’ll travel to face Nashua South, which remained at No. 10 after it’s win over Bishop Guertin, on Saturday.
