Windham moves back into NHHSSports Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll as playoffs begin

The postseason is here and the Windham High School boys lacrosse team will go into it as a top 10 team in the state.

The Jaguars moved into the NHHSSports Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll this week after clinching the No. 3 seed in the Division II tournament, jumping back into the poll at No. 8.

Bishop Guertin and Exeter remained unanimous choices for the top two spots, with the Cardinals at No. 1 and the Blue Hawks at No. 2. Exeter earned the top seed in Division I and will host the winner of the preliminary-round game between Concord and Souhegan, while Bishop Guertin is the No. 2 seed and will host Bedford in the quarterfinals. Both games are on Saturday.

Portsmouth stayed at No. 3 and took the top seed in D2, as the Clippers will host a quarterfinal Saturday against either Oyster River-Newmarket or Hanover. Pinkerton beat out Derryfield by a single point to hang on to No. 4; the Astros will head to Nashua South for a D1 quarterfinal on Saturday, while the Cougars will face either Coe-Brown or ConVal in the D2 quarterfinals, also on Saturday.

South traded spots with Londonderry, moving up to No. 6, as the Panthers beat Pinkerton last week for the first time since 1999 and earned the three seed in D1. The Lancers dropped to seventh and will host a quarterfinal Saturday against Merrimack.

Windham is eighth in the poll and will host Alvirne in the D2 preliminary round on Thursday, while Timberlane and Winnacunnet each dropped a spot to Nos. 9 and 10, respectively. The Owls will host Hollis Brookline and the Warriors will host Goffstown in prelims, also on Thursday.

Campbell, the only undefeated team in the state, leads four teams also receiving votes. The Cougars will host the winner of Gilford and Kearsarge in the Division III quarterfinals on Saturday.
