Windham moves back into top spot in NHHSSports Field Hockey Coaches Poll

After a couple of weeks, the Windham High School field hockey team is back on top of the NHHSSports Field Hockey Coaches Poll.

The Jaguars, who were No. 1 in the preseason poll, split first-place votes with Exeter, the previous top team, but were higher than the Blue Hawks on a few other polls to return to the top. And for the first time this season, a team from Division III has moved into the top 10.

Windham take its No. 1 ranking on the road for one game this week, as the Jaguars head to Winnacunnet on Wednesday. Exeter also has just one game on the schedule, as the Blue Hawks host Bishop Guertin, also on Wednesday.

Winnacunnet continued to rise in the poll, moving up to third, as the Warriors will head to Concord on Friday after hosting Windham. Bedford drops a spot to fourth and will head to Dover for a 4 p.m. game on Monday and then return home to host Nashua South on Wednesday.

John Stark, coming off its win at Portsmouth, rounds out the top five. The Generals have a busy week, with three home games against Plymouth on Monday, Sanborn on Tuesday and Hanover on Friday.

Souhegan remained at No. 6 and Portsmouth dropped to No. 7 following its first loss; the two teams will meet in Amherst at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sabers will also host Kingswood on Friday while the Clippers travel to Kennett, also on Friday.

Dover remained at eighth and will host Bedford on Monday before traveling to Derry to take on Pinkerton on Wednesday. Gilford becomes the first D3 team to move into the poll, as the Eagles come in at ninth. They’ll play at Newfound on Tuesday and host Littleton on Friday.

Concord dropped a spot to 10th and the Crimson Tide will host two games this week, against Man. Central-West on Wednesday and Winnacunnet on Friday.
