Windham tabs Miller as new baseball head coach
The Windham High School baseball team has a new head coach, as Jeff Miller takes over the program for the 2017 season.
Miller spent the last eight seasons as the head coach at New England College, where he holds the school record for coaching wins and wins in a season (21 in 2012).
“Jeff has almost two decades in the dugout, experience that will translate well to our highly successful program,” Windham athletic director Bill Raycraft said in a press release announcing the hiring. “Having coached college athletes for most of that time, he will not only be able to raise the level of our team as a whole, but work individually with our players as they consider taking their game to the next level.”
Prior to taking over as head coach at NEC, Miller was an assistant coach with the program. He has also coached at Colby-Sawyer College, McDaniel College and Western Maryland College, and was the pitching coach at Riverdale Baptist.
“Windham’s program is one of the top in New Hampshire high school sports,” Miller said. “The feeder system is solid, the other coaches are excellent, and they play the game the right way both on and off the field. I am thrilled to join the athletic staff at WHS, and can’t wait to meet with our student-athletes in the next few weeks to talk about preseason activities.”
Miller takes over a program that won the Division II championship in 2015 and reached the semifinals last season, but in between, saw head coach Jason Matthews fired in midseason, after a 10-1 start.
