Girls Lacrosse Roundup: Bedford overcomes slow start to beat Exeter (video)

BEDFORD – Eloise Montagano scored four of her five goals in the second quarter to help the Bedford High School girls lacrosse team overcome an early deficit for an 11-6 win Wednesday over Exeter.

Paige Gibson added three goals and three assists for the Bulldogs (4-2, No. 9 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll), who trailed 3-0 after the first quarter.

Mary Lenti also had two goals and helped Bedford win 16 of 21 draw controls. Carly Hodgdon-Rogers scored a goal and helped keep Exeter’s Riley Benevides in check. Melanie Gibson also had an assist and Irene Tsai finished with 10 saves.

Benevides, who went into the game averaging 4.9 goals, just one for the Blue Hawks (6-2, No. 3) while Phoebe Christenson had three goals and an assist. Claire Wilhelm also scored twice and Molly Byrne finished with six saves.

Salem 16, Manchester Memorial 2

The Blue Devils grabbed their first win of the season, getting eight goals from Katie Wood.

Althea Schaefer added three goals and Leah Gonzalez scored twice for Salem (1-6). Gabby Clarke, Kourtney Carroll and Avery Kalil scored a goal apiece and Olivia Schoenrock recorded eight saves.

No. 4 Pinkerton 12, Hanover 4

The Astros took an early lead and held off the Bears for a road win.

Francesca Doyle led the way with five goals and an assist and Sookie Folsom had three goal and two assists for Pinkerton (4-3). Ava Michelinie also had three goals and Ashley Clouthier scored a goal as well.

Paige Fenner made four saves in goal while Ada Judge had one save.

St. Thomas 16, Coe-Brown 9

Talula Gregg scored six goals, including the 100th of her high school career, to lead the Saints to the win over the Bears.

Julia Bryan and Sophia Kelly added three goals apiece while Charlotte De Tolla scored twice for St. Thomas (4-2). Rose Willerer and Lizzy Holden also each had a goal.

Reese Foss finished with eight saves while Charlotte Kelly and Jules Stowell played well defensively.

Natalie George had two goals and an assist for Coe-Brown (6-2) while Avery Keefe also had two goals. Morgan Readel, Molly Skahan, Ellie Escabi, Maggie Cardillo and Addison Roy added a goal apiece.

Hailey Smith finished with 20 saves while Ady Moynihan, Bre Peters and Kenzie Silva played well defensively.
