Girls Lacrosse Roundup: Portsmouth pulls away in 2nd half to beat Souhegan (video)

AMHERST –  The Portsmouth High School girls lacrosse team held pulled away late in the third quarter to grab an 11-5 win Monday over Souhegan in a rematch of last year’s Division I final.

Raegan Lawton scored three goals and had two assists to lead the Clippers (2-0, No. 1 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) while Emery Lawton also had three goals and Ginger Vinciguerra and Lily Patterson each had two goals.

Georgia Bouvier chipped in a goal and an assist and Sage Bussiere finished with five saves, as Portsmouth held Souhegan scoreless for nearly 32 minutes to break open a one-goal game at halftime. The Clippers led 5-4 going into the break, but scored five goals over a nine-minute stretch of the second half to take control of the game.

Souhegan (2-1, No. 2) got two goals and an assist from Libby Kennedy, while Lanai Hickman had two goals and two groundballs. Averie Curran also scored and had three groundballs and Izzy Stevenson had an assist and five groundballs while Molly Benson finished with eight saves.

Timberlane 10, Hanover 2

Rylee Donahue had five goals to help lead the Owls to a road win over the Bears.

Lila Fitzgerald added a goal and four assists and Julia Johnson scored three goals for Timberlane (4-0). Ava Paul added a goal and an assist and Aubrey Fitzgerald also had an assist while Kayla Apitz recorded five saves.

Donahue also had six draw controls while Johnson recorded seven caused turnovers and five groundballs. Alexa Ring (two groundballs) and Mia Morrier added three caused turnovers apiece and Mackenzie Norcott had two while Kasey Fitzgerald also played well.

No. 9 Merrimack 20, Keene-Monadnock 1

Jackie Hayes scored six goals, including the 100th of her career, to lead the Tomahawks past the Blackbirds.

Hayes also had two assists and Riley Taylor had five goals for Merrimack (4-0) while Lyla Carls had three goals and three assists. Ava Woods also scred three times and had an assist and Syd Capen added a goal and two assists.

Liv Dine chipped in with a goal and an assist while Lily Palmer also scored and Izzy Callahan had an assist. Sophia Richard finished with two saves.

Hayes also had four groundballs, three draw controls and two interceptions while Taylor had four draw controls and Liv Mitchell, Carls and Palmer each had two groundballs.

Trinity 14, Kearsarge 9

Addison Moynihan scored seven goals to help the Pioneers grab a win over the Cougars.

Sammy Raymond added five goals and Lily Ferdinando scored two goals for Trinity (3-0).

Katie Walkinshaw led Kearsarge (1-2) with four goals and an assist while Addyson Rossi had three goals and an assist.

No. 3 Pinkerton 10, Dover 4

The Astros broke open a close game in the second half to get a win over the Green Wave.

Rylee Robinson had two goals and two assists to lead Pinkerton (2-1) while Delaney Summers and Francesca Doyle had two goals and an assist apiece. Sookie Folsom also scored twice while Grace Morrow and Ava Michelinie each had a goal.

Ashley Morrison chipped in with an assist and Paige Fenner finished with four saves.

No. 5 Winnacunnet 16, Oyster River-Newmarket 3

Elle Emory had four goals and seven assists to lead the Warriors to a win over the Bobcats.

McKinley Fowler added five goals and Ari Rizzo had two goals and two assists for Winnacunnet (4-0). Annika Jacques had two goals and an assist and Addy McErlain scored a goal and had two assists.

Hannah Curtin (one assist) and Emily Arlington had a goal apiece in the win.

No. 10 St. Thomas 20, Milford 3

Talula Gregg scored nine goals for the Saints as they cruised past the Spartans.

Lixxy Holden added three goals while Izzy Taylor and Julia Bryan scored two goals apiece for St. Thomas (3-0). Lucy Broom, Annita Parmelee, Sophia Kelly and Lena Shaheen each scored a goal as well.

Reese Foss recorded 11 saves while Maia Scanlon and Payton Baker played well defensively.

No. 4 Exeter 15, Salem 3

The Blue Hawks got six goals from Riley Benevides as they rolled to a win over the Blue Devils.

Phoebe Christenson added four goals and Josie Drunsic (one assist) and Claire Wilhelm each scored two goals for Exeter (3-1). Racquel Battle also had a goal and Josephine Vadala had two assists.

Evie Lafreniere and Brooke Battle had an assist apiece and Molly Byrne finished with six saves and Maggie Lilly had one.

Bedford 10, No. 8 Nashua South 7

Carly Benzekri scored six goals and recorded her 100th career draw control, but the Panthers came up short against the Bulldogs.

Lexi McGuire also had a goal for South (3-1) while Emma Herlihy finished with five saves. Nitzann Alkalay, Nicole DeJesus, Karina Santana and Maddie Langer played well defensively.

No. 7 Londonderry 17, Nashua North 0

Addie Doyle scored five goals for the Lancers as they knocked off the Titans.

Annabelle Melia added two goals and five assists while Summer Butler and Cora Rogers each had three goals for Londonderry (3-1). Lilly Ciaramatero also had two goals and Eres Delorey and Lexi Padykula had a goal apiece.

Delorey also had four draw controls while Padykula and Molly Leone each had three.

Goffstown 15, Spaulding 3

Mia Brisette had a goal and two assists along with the 200th draw control of her career as the Grizzlies beat the Red Raiders.

Sydney Lavoie added three goals and Trinity Lunn had two goals and two assists for Goffstown (1-2). Mackenna Fisher scored two goals and had an assist while Paige Winters and Maeve Hammond also had two goals apiece.

Ella Coletti chipped in a goal and two assists while Lilli Connor had a goal and an assist and Stella Enman also scored. Gabby Millas reocrded two assists.

Derryfield 18, Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough 4

Maddy Paolino had six goals and two assists as the Cougars beat the Lakers.

Caitlin Lande added three goals for Derryfield (3-1) while Kelsi Bremberg, Titi Latinwo, Finley Llewellyn and Chloe Larson had two goals apiece. Reagan Ayers scored a goal and had four assists to go with 11 draw controls and Charlotte Belanger had two assists and six draw controls.

Noelanni Hunter recorded five saves and Grace Porter also played well in goal while Kaity Dell’Organo played well defensively for the Cougars.

ILMA (1-3) got three goals and an assist from Aubrey Breese while Kate Taylor added a goal. Bella Kimball played well defensively, recording four interceptions, and Audrey Gumpert finished with five saves.
